BODY NARRATIVES – talk & draw event

Saturday 27 April ~ 2 – 4pm

Vaulty Towers; 34 Lower Marsh, London SE1 7RG

£20 materials included or bring your own

Book online or pay by card or cash at the event

Body Narratives presents a life as well as a life model, as carefully selected models pose and speak, touching on a range of subjects close to all our hearts.

This is our first event since the pandemic and I will be collaborating with Anne Noble-Partridge, founder of London Drawing, who hosts the event. I will be in conversation with artist and performer John Callaghan.

John Callaghan is a professional musician and video artist as well as a life model. Every year he creates a new electro cabaret to perform on the fringe circuit and in festivals. From growing up in a working class midlands home, John knew from an early age there was something unusual within him that he wanted to express. As a teenager he experienced no crushes, hormonal stirrings or romantic longings. Instead all his creative energy was channelled into his artistry. No one in his family or community had trodden such a path, so he began by working as a postman. When he discovered the joy of life modelling, he realised that by moving to London, he could do that full time instead, whilst pursuing his musical career the rest of the time. In recent times John’s asexual and aromantic nature have found understanding within our contemporary culture, facts which were not always recognised.

Come draw with us, listen and celebrate the uniqueness of a life lived.
